“The Forgotten Country”

Head in her hands, making plans, contemplating the deeper places of her heart.
The forgotten country, a desperate place, when love and happiness departs.
An abandoned house lay crumbling, empty, amongst dry and withering leaves.
The flaking bark, laying it's warm winter blanket, covering moist unripened seeds.
Love deserted this place, left it's bitter taste, all that remains is her injured pride.
In this dark vacant grove, there is nowhere to run, there is nowhere left to hide.
Longing to know, when love will return, and when she will see it's welcoming face.
At this moment in her life, loneliness is all she feels, in this dank, forbidding place.
A sprinkle of romance, some flowers, a letter, anything but the hangman's rope.
Leave regret and sorrow, for there's always tomorrow, she lives in eternal hope.
In this life, the narrow road to perdition, is without doubt the hardest road to take.
Forgive yourself, do not dwell on the past, just be wary of the choices you make.
